Digital Car Wallpapers Gets a Makeover

October 19th, 2008

Digital Car Wallpapers is the second website I made. It has become very dated recently both in terms of design and content. Recently, I made a slight change to the CSS code to enable the (category) page width to be more fluid. The original design was constrained to a 800px width, in the recent update I changed the width to be a percentage, this meant the site would look better on wider monitors and would ensure more content appeared above the fold.

I looked at it again a couple of days ago and decided it just looked pants. There is no denying it. Another change was needed.

I decided to give it a thorough makeover and change the dark page colour to white and go from there. I had a mooch around my eperimental designs and noticed I had started to work on changing the design back in April this year. This had been shelved for one reason or another and I had totally forgotten about it.

I decided quite quickly that I liked the design and should go with it. The next step involved making changes to the content and creating the new pages. A few hours later and the site was done (I really must look into a content management system for this site) and online.

The new design is much more compact. I have again decided to go for a fixed width as it enables me to be more precise when it comes to positioning the various elements that make up the page. The white background gives it a clean feeling, but I still have to work on some new content. This will be done during the next few weeks.

Take a look at the new design.
