Tonight Matthew I'm Going To Be With Jesus; Half Man Half Biscuit
Favicon.ico creator/generator
Published by Stephen | Filed under Favicon.ico, Webmaster Tools
I have just started writing a post about custom error pages. I looked at the stats for flowercarole.com and found that our error page was requested over 10,000 times in July this year. This figure is very high and after looking at the error log files, it seems that most of these errors have occurred when the favicon.ico file was requested. There isn’t one you see, hence the error.
To rectify this I decided to make one. Just something simple to stop the errors occurring. A quick search for “favicon.ico generator” turned up a couple of sites, but these turned out to be pretty crap. Another search for “favicon.ico creator” turned up this tool which worked a treat. Dead easy to use and we had an favicon drawn and uploaded in five minutes. Once the favicon is drawn you need to link to it from all of your webpages. The code you require is available at the site.
This will stop the errors, but I might have to change the design!
Great tool, highly recommended.
Oh, by the way, the post about custom error pages will be coming shortly. The thing with this internet malarky is you just keep getting distracted and end up in places and doing things you didn’t set out to do!
